Data & credits

Guess The Player has 1787 admitted practice players: 1007 football players and 780 basketball players. Its versioned editorial selection uses recognizability for the game audience. Players outside this selection do not appear in random games.

The source archive retains all 6375 players: 1929 footballers and 4446 basketball players, with 48080 listed senior or professional club stints. Game admission changes neither the archived facts nor the separate Squad Showdown pool. The Guess The Player selection and tier index records its current scope.

Squad Showdown

Squad Showdown retains its separate 1929-player football pool. 1871 footballers have a recorded senior international appearances and goals value and usable source positions. National statistics come from a single matching senior national-team row in a pinned Wikipedia revision. Missing values and ambiguous rows are excluded from play; they are not assumed to be zero. These are dated source snapshots, not live career totals. The squad statistics source index links each exact source revision, snapshot date and recorded value. Wikipedia contributors and the source licences above apply to adapted source material.

World Cup finals goals · through 2022 has 642 eligible players, including 377 appearance-backed zeros. Source: The Fjelstul World Cup Database v.1.2.0, © 2023 Joshua C. Fjelstul, Ph.D., under CC BY-SA 4.0. We filtered men’s finals to 1930–2022, joined game identities and aggregated goals, excluding own goals, qualifiers and shoot-outs. This challenge ends on 18 December 2022; later tournaments are excluded.

Listed senior honours has 1006 eligible players. We selected explicit dated senior-player wins and individual awards from pinned Wikipedia Honours sections, including monthly awards and team selections; youth team wins, coaching honours and placings are excluded. Each distinct award and edition counts once. Listings vary and are not complete career totals. Dates shown for this challenge are article revision dates, not verified factual update dates. Ambiguous sections remain unavailable.

Latest recorded market value has 470 eligible players. Values come from David Caribou / dcaribou’s Football Data from Transfermarkt compilation, whose dataset descriptor declares CC0 1.0. We selected reviewed identities and their latest dated then-current EUR value from the frozen published series, converted to million EUR and excluded career peaks and transfer fees. Individual dates range from 2013 to June 2026 and are shown at reveal; older values remain dated. Missing values are excluded, never replaced with zero. The compilation’s club metadata does not establish affiliation on a valuation day. This source does not license player photographs or imply endorsement.

World Cup and honours adaptations are available under CC BY-SA 4.0 in the scoring metrics and source index, with author notices, source versions and modifications. Market-value records retain the compilation’s CC0 grant; per-source licences are recorded in that index. Data is provided without warranty. Game code, rules and images have separate rights.

Country eligibility uses the listed representative nationality. New drafts use one player from the shared country and two from each of five selected countries. Older career-club rooms retain their source-listed club eligibility, including loans and reserves. Position eligibility uses broad source-derived groups: goalkeeper, defender, midfielder or forward. Captain double points and origin quotas are game rules. Private room membership, drafts and locked XIs are stored for up to 24 hours so players can reconnect. An opaque room credential is stored in your browser. There is no account or trusted public ranking. The original user-supplied Kadro Kurma game provided the draft, XI, reveal rules and nine scoring-challenge definitions. Challenges without enough recorded statistics remain unavailable; no missing statistic or unverified archive fallback is promoted to a score. The interface and transport were adapted for SportKnowledge.

Catalogue scope

Loans, returns to a club and professional reserve teams remain separate career clues. Parent-club and loan dates may overlap. Youth teams, national teams and coaching careers are excluded. Guess The Player uses a separate versioned editorial admission and tier selection. Its hardest tier contains recognizable specialist names; it does not admit every obscure archived player. No popularity or solve-rate calibration has been measured. Earlier source-assisted difficulty decisions remain in the archive index as historical release evidence. The catalogue has not undergone an independent completeness review of every career.

New basketball entries also have a positive NBA or BAA regular-season appearance row in the official 2026–27 NBA Guide. These rows support participation through source-name and playing-window matching; they do not verify entire worldwide careers or lifetime statistical totals. The NBA source remains owned by its publisher.

Guess The Player scores are saved on your device. Squad Showdown room results expire with the room. Neither game has a public leaderboard. Illustrations were created for SportKnowledge; no player photographs are used. Team crests identify clubs and remain the property of their owners, with no endorsement implied. Current crests may differ from those used in historical years. Team image sources and collection credits are available. Where a crest is unavailable, the game uses a distinct initials badge.
